Responsibilities:
- Contribute to performing monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. Assist with the verification and posting of original entries to subsidiary and general ledger accounts, running trial balances, and preparing account statements.
- Analyzes records of present and past operations, trends and costs, estimated and realized revenues, administrative commitments, and obligations incurred. Analyze and coordinate other various financial data and report it in a useful and understandable manner.
- Provide guidance and support for processing accounts receivables, conducting collection calls for outstanding payments, preparation of invoices, analyzing costs, reviewing purchase orders, and negotiating settlements
- Coordinate and communicate with owners/general contractors/vendors in connection with resolving financial disputes and with respect to accounts payable, and accounts receivable issues.
- Communicate cash position risk issues, including those with respect to unapproved and unfunded change order work in place; Assist with the project closeout process, providing guidance and decision-making relating to change orders and back-charges.
- Provide reconciliation of payroll withholdings and taxes, as well as other forms of support for potential payroll issues.
- Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures, ensuring compliance with various accounting regulations.
- Identify and recommend accounting procedures and processes to improve efficiency.
- Other duties as assigned.
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Solid understanding of and ability to apply generally accepted accounting principles and procedures to a variety of accounting audits, transactions, and problems.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, vendors, and customers.
- Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail and solid organizational skills.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills; communicate professionally with our internal stakeholders, as well as external clients and vendors.
- Experienced in problem solving with ability to recognize issues and deal with them directly.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree from accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting or finance.
- Minimum five (5) years of professional accounting experience.
- Construction industry knowledge is preferred, but not required.
- Demonstrated general knowledge of accounting and accounts payable principles.
- Experience with Viewpoint is a plus, but not required.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook.
