Preconstruction Intern

At Guarantee Electrical Company, we love providing students with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in electrical contracting through our internship program. We are currently seeking Preconstruction Interns to join our St. Louis, MO electrical construction teams and provide direct support to our planning team, project managers, and field/lead planners. As an intern, you will aid in a wide range of responsibilities from the project design and layout phase to the supervision of design installation on project sites.

Your Impact:

• Assist in rolling out project integration methods by collaborating with preconstruction and operations teams to ensure smooth communication and alignment.
• Help build and maintain relationships with vendors and subcontractors. Support initiatives to implement labor-saving solutions that enhance installation efficiency.
• Aid in developing project-specific workforce projections and aligning milestones with client schedules. Help break down estimates into standardized Work Breakdown Schedules.
• Participate in efforts to drive innovation and standardization in product selections and prefabrication assemblies. Work with the operations team on project-specific strategies.
• Support the implementation of purchasing software and assist in developing relationships with suppliers. Help strategize to reduce the number of purchase orders and back orders.
• Assist in organizing meetings for larger material purchases, discussing installation processes and logistics.
• Contribute to the development of synergies related to the procurement of equipment and materials across multiple projects.
• Help gather proposals, blueprints, and specifications for project bids. Learn to analyze documents to identify labor, material, and time requirements.
• Aid in organizing electronic files, bid documents, drawings, and specifications for easy retrieval and ensure they are up to date.
• Assist in coordinating and managing customer data in Salesforce (CRM), ensuring accurate and accessible information for team members.

Who you are:

• Must be a current student pursuing a degree in Electrical, Construction Management, Construction Technology, or similar program of study.

• Ability to translate technical information into clear and compelling content.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and make sound judgments.
